WOrk Social

Come for the work, stay for the connection.

A third space for getting things done and being around good people.

Your to-do list is waiting. So are the people you haven't met yet.

Work Social is a curated gathering for graduate students, professionals, entrepreneurs, and creatives who want to make progress on their work while enjoying the energy of being around others.

Bring your laptop, your research paper, your business plan, your creative project, or the task you've been putting off. We'll bring people together in welcoming spaces where you can focus, connect, and make room for both productivity and community.

Work on your goals. Connect with your people. Make room for both.

Independent work. Optional introductions. Genuine connection.

A Different Kind of Third Space

We all need somewhere to go beyond home and work.

A place where you can get out of your usual routine, make progress on something that matters to you, and be around people without having to turn every interaction into a meeting or networking opportunity.

That's the idea behind Work Social.

Part work session. Part social gathering. Part opportunity for unexpected collaboration.

Come to body double and finally tackle that assignment. Meet someone for a quick conversation before getting back to your project. Talk through a business idea during a break. Or simply enjoy working alongside other people who have things they're building, learning, and pursuing.

You don't have to choose between getting things done and being social.

At Work Social, both belong.

How we work social

Focus

Bring something you want to accomplish and give it your attention. Settle in, work at your own pace, and benefit from the shared energy of people making progress around you.

Connect

Get to know the people in the room without the pressure of a formal networking event. Introductions are encouraged, conversations are welcome, and participation is always at your own pace.

Collaborate

Share an idea, exchange perspectives, or find someone who understands the challenge you're working through. Collaboration might happen naturally, but you don't have to arrive with a pitch or a partnership in mind.

Reset

Step away from your screen. Grab a coffee. Catch up, laugh, or take a breather. The social part is not something you have to squeeze into another day; it's part of the experience.

There's Room for What You're Working On

For the student with a deadline.
Bring that research paper, reading list, thesis chapter, or assignment that needs a dedicated block of attention.

For the professional with personal goals.
Make time for professional development, certifications, career planning, or the side project that keeps getting pushed to next week.

For the entrepreneur building something.
Work on your business plan, marketing calendar, operations, next proposal, or the tasks that move your venture forward.

For the creative with a project in progress.
Write, design, produce, plan, rehearse, or experiment. Your work doesn't have to look like anyone else's.

You don't need a particular job title, industry, or creative discipline to belong here. If you're working toward something and appreciate being around good people, there's room for you.

The Story Behind Work Social

About nine years ago, I was serving as National Parliamentarian for the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) while completing an internship in Washington, D.C. I had workshop development to finish, a producer friend needed to wrap up a beat, and an actor friend needed to rehearse lines for an upcoming show.

A few of us had met up for brunch and wanted to spend time together again. The challenge was that we all had things to get done.

Instead of choosing between our work and our friendships, we gathered at one of our places, brought a bottle of wine, and worked alongside each other.

I worked on my workshop. My producer friend worked on music. My actor friend rehearsed.

We took breaks, caught up, shared what we were working on, and encouraged each other along the way.

We got things done. We spent quality time together. And we left feeling like we had made room for both.

That experience stayed with me.

Work Social is a new expression of that original idea: creating intentional spaces where people can pursue their goals, enjoy the company of others, and discover the value of working and growing together.

What began as a simple gathering among friends has the potential to become a community built around a shared belief: you can take your work seriously without taking yourself out of community.

Find Us in the Room

What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead.

What sets us apart isn’t just our process—it’s the intention behind it. We take time to understand, explore, and create with purpose at every turn.
